The 22nd Congress of the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI) took place in Birmingham, UK, from August 18-22, 2024, focusing on “Exchanging Knowledge to Improve Burn Care Around the World – Facing the Future.” Co-hosted by the British Burn Association, the event brought together over 1,000 burn care specialists from 47 countries to share insights and collaborate on improving global burn care practices.
ISBI President-elect David Harrington opened the congress. Followed by current ISBI President Folke Sjoberg outlined upcoming initiatives, including the ISBI Burn Center Audit Program.
On the first day, ISRMWR hosted a seminar titled “Regenerative Medicine: The Future of Wound Management.” The seminar featured a range of speakers with notable presentations included cutting-edge treatments for facial burns and large-scale burn injuries.
The second day featured a keynote by Gerald Abesamis, who highlighted the clinical benefits of regenerative medical technology for facial burns.
The ISBI Congress remains one of the premier events in global burn care. ISRMWR’s contributions at the 2024 congress further solidified the role of regenerative medicine on the world stage. The next congress, scheduled for 2026 in Santiago, Chile, promises to continue this momentum.
