United Nations Academic Impact Global Regenerative Medicine & Wound Repair Workshop Connecting Global Health Professionals

On Oct. 13, 2021, United Nations Academic Impact Global Regenerative Medicine & Wound Repair Workshop was held online with unprecedented success.

220 medical professionals from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, the US, the Middle East and South America joined the virtual event, making this workshop the most attended one of all the UNAI workshops on regenerative medical technology.

4 doctors from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines shared the latest clinical evidence in wound management . Dr. Yap, Vice Chairman of Malaysian Society of Wound Care Professionals, shared his insights on wound assessment detailing assessment tools and wound bed preparation. Dr. Donna, Secretary General of Indonesian Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, focused on the TIMERS principle in the treatment of chronic wounds. Dr. Afriyanti, who is working in the field of burn surgery and stem-cell therapy, provided her inputs on the features of commonly used wound dressings in clinical practice. Dr. James, who specializes in regenerative medical technology and burns, enriched the workshop with treatment of various kinds of wounds, among which the most impressive one was full thickness scalp defect caused by high-voltage electricity.

This virtual workshop was as comprehensive as it was educative. It provided high-quality wound management experience to the participants, and extensively demonstrated the features and advantages of regenerative medical technology. As always, this workshop provided a valuable platform for global experts to communicate.

Since 2017, the UNAI Global Regenerative Medicine & Wound Repair Workshop has been continuously carried out in many countries around the world. During the pandemic, even though face-to-face training workshop has become much less available, we are still able to virtually communicate with medical professionals from all over the world.

In the future, we will stick to our commitment to consistently provide good training contents, to promote wound management around the world.
