ISRMWR Supports White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health

Hunger, Nutrition, and Health

The White House will hold the second White House Conference on Food, Nutrition, and Health September 2022 after the first and only conference in 1969, to drive solutions to end hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030. The conference will focus on 5 dimensions: ending hunger, improving nutrition, making healthy choices, supporting physical activity, and enhancing nutrition and food security research.

Currently millions of Americans are affected by hunger. Millions more are affected by diet-related diseases like heart disease and diabetes that healthy eating, along with physical activity, can help prevent. Diet-related diseases are among the leading causes of death and disability in the United States - and they have an unequal impact across communities. Specifically, hunger and diet-related diseases are more common in underserved communities, including many Black, Latino, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, and Native American communities. And hunger and diet-related diseases affect many more communities, including rural communities, people with disabilities, older adults, LGBTQI+ people, military families, and military veterans. Lack of access to healthy and affordable food, and to safe outdoor spaces, contributes to hunger, diet-related diseases, and health disparities. The COVID-19 pandemic has only made things worse.

"End hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030, so that fewer Americans experience diet-related diseases like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension."

The 1969 White House Conference has influenced the country’s food policy for the last 50 years, and the 2022 conference will coordinate the public and private sectors to accelerate progress and drive transformative change in the U.S.

We Value Your Opinions
As a proud partner, the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair (ISRMWR) will fully support this conference.

We will be holding a ZOOM meeting (schedule to be announced), engaging community stakeholders to collect creative ideas and solutions to promote the health and well-being of people on a national level. You are welcome to join the session and provide your input. The discussions will be consolidated as a final report of policy recommendations and submitted to the White House.
