The International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair Formally Launched Its China Project

The launching ceremony of the China Project Initiated by the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair took place in the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries at 10:00 a. m., Mar. 26, marking the formal start of the project.

The launching ceremony has seen Mr. Kevin Xu, the chairman of MEBO Group and president of the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair, Dr. Li Li, the vice chairman of MEBO Group and the chairman of the Rongxiang Xu Foundation, Mr. Heqiang Zhang, Director of the Department of American & Oceanian Affairs of the Chinese Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Ms. Lan Deng, Deputy Secretary General of China Friendship Foundation for Peace & Development, Dr. Raul J. Guzman, Dr. John M. Giurini, Dr. Aristidis Veves from Harvard Medical School and Dr. David J. Mooney, the Pinkas Family Professor of Bioengineering in the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, experts of regenerative medicine and doctors from countries like Lebanon and Indonesia as well as friends from media and people from all walks of life.

A video that shows the founding process of the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair (hereinafter referred to as “The Society” was played at the beginning of the conference, in which the development of regenerative medicine was shown and the founding process under the support of California Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Harvard Medical School, the significance of The Society and the recognition and accreditation of the Society by political, economic and all sectors of life in the United States were introduced.

Kevin Xu, the president of the administrative committee of the Society, introduced the background and principle of the Society and demonstrated that the regenerative medicine is an emerging subject of modern science. According to him, the Society is established to build an international platform for academic exchange, which integrates regenerative theories, science and thinking. It aims to form three sources to serve academic and technical exchange. Research institutions and communities willing to develop the regenerative medicine will be united to build a regenerative medicine community with shared destiny.

On behalf of the Chinese Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mr. Heqiang Zhang extended his congratulations to the establishment of the Society. He mentioned in his speech that the world today is interdependent, sharing weal and woe and building the community of shared destiny; the sound development of human health is a key component for building the community of shared destiny. He expects investment from more medical experts, organizations and social forces on health career and efforts to promote human life quality.

Dr. Aristidis Veves, Rongxiang Xu, MD, Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, Director of The Rongxiang Xu, MD, Center for Regenerative Therapeutics, Research Director of Joslin-Beth Israel Deaconess Foot Center, spoke about the high-level cooperation between The Rongxiang Xu, MD, Center for Regenerative Therapeutics in Harvard Medical School and the Society in the United States and even around the world in hope of a wider acceptance regarding the training and education of regenerative medicine; doctors should take the due responsibility in the development of regenerative medicine and release more patients from pains and diseases.

On behalf of the Chinese Burn Association of Integrated Medicine (CBAIM), Dr. Yongchong Chen expressed his sincere congratulation to the launching of the project. In his speech, he stressed the role of the CBAIM as an important academic organization in the field of regenerative medicine and wound repair in China and upheld the proposal of building a regenerative medicine community with shared destiny and expressed his willingness to work full-heartedly for the China Project Initiated by the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair.

In the next round, reporters raised questions for their respective concerns, which include the focal point in the development of regenerative medicine in China, its challenges and things about charity in the future.

President Xu gave answers to all questions. The research of regenerative mechanism is the focal point of developing regenerative medicine; the challenges faced by the Society are not arising from procedural affairs but the attitude of the public towards regenerative medicine, which requires more to promote understanding. In terms of charity, as an important platform for international communication, the Society, joined by multiple non-profit organizations, will train more young doctors and scholars, who will gradually become the pillar of developing regenerative medicine.

A new window is opened by the launching ceremony for the massive, all-directional and in-depth publication of the regenerative medicine in China. It lays an important foundation for globalizing regenerative medicine. The Society will keep working on the mission of sustainable and sound development and safe and reliable clinical application of the regenerative medicine; it will continue holding international communication and cooperation in the aspects of scientific research, education, legislation, economic development and clinical transformation; it will play an important role in public welfare and keep working for human life and health career.
